Second year TTI student stabs Teacher; jailed for six months

He has also been ordered to pay GH₵3,000.00 as compensation to the injured teacher

The Takoradi District Court has sentenced a second-year student of Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), Emmanuel Sam popularly known as Agogo, to six months in prison for stabbing a teacher on campus.

The Court ordered the convict, to, in addition to the custodial sentence, pay three thousand Ghana cedi (GH₵3,000.00) as compensation to the injured teacher or serve an additional three months in default. He is also to pay a fine of GH₵2,400 to the court.

According to the facts of the case available to Connect FM's Omanbapa morning show, the incident occurred on September 23, 2025, when the student used an unauthorized route to enter the school premises.

A teacher on duty apprehended him and attempted to escort him to the senior housemaster for disciplinary action.

In an attempt to avoid facing the housemaster, Sam pulled a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbed the teacher in the arm.

He was subdued with the help of other teachers, arrested, and later handed over to the Central Police Station.

Sources indicate that Sam had a history of truancy and absenteeism.

He was subsequently charged and arraigned before court on Friday, where judgment was delivered.
