Tensions are rising in Ahanta West as Assembly Members accuse Municipal Chief Executive Ing Ebenezer Aidoo of blocking their access to the Municipal Assembly Hall for a critical meeting. The Assembly Members say the blockage is without explanation to help them know the reason for the MCE's action.

The disagreement is deepened over the controversial procurement of motorbikes meant for assembly members, with claims that the MCE is stalling the procurement process.

A visibly furious Assembly Member For Apimanim Electoral Area, Ernest Zotor, told Agona-Nkwanta based WestCoast TV that he has never seen such a development in the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly since he joined in 2015, calling on the MCE to collaborate with them to enhance the development of the municipality.

"What's happening is not good. I came to the Assembly in 2015 and I've never witnessed this before. As an MCE, you need to collaborate with the assembly members for the development of the the municipality. Why would the MCE deny us access to the assembly hall? Then the next time he also calls for a meeting, we won't come," Hon Ernest Zotor, Assembly Member For Apimanim Electoral Area told this channel.

Adding fuel to the fire, assembly members also accuse Ing. Ebenezer Aidoo of withholding approval for timely distribution of vital oil palm and coconut seedlings, key to local livelihoods. Other unresolved issues within the assembly continue to strain relations, creating an atmosphere of mistrust and frustration.
