'No change, still maintain!' Ashanti NPP declares, as Bawumia ends 3 day tour
Delegates of the NPP in the Ashanti Region have declared their unflinching support for Dr Mamahudu Bawumia candidacy as the party heads into a flagbearer contest on January 31, 2026.
Speaking at various zonal Constituency Engagements in the Region over a three day period the delegates, made up of Executives, MPs, Councils of Elders, and vocally backed up by several youth groups declared their unalloyed support for the candidature of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The declarations, which began at the first of his ongoing engagements with the Executives to reaffirm his decision to contest, have since continued with chants such as "No change", "Bawumia, no challenger", "Bawumia is the only one we know", "Chart no ato! Bawumia is the man" and many others.

At separate meetings at Adansi Akrofuom, Bekwai, Konongo, Effiduase, Mampong, Offinso, Abuakwa, and Ahodwo, the Executives, who will join others to cast their votes on January 31, 2026 in the poll, extolled Dr Bawumia's virtues of deep thinking, hardwork, and humility, and described him as a visionary driven by problem solving ideas, saying there are the exact qualities the NPP and Ghana need.
Speaking in separate interviews with this Reporter, several MPs, members of the various constituency Councils of Elders, and the Constituency Executives insisted Dr Bawumia was currently the best option if the Party intends to wrest power from the NDC in 2028.
Citing Ghana's election history, they emphasized that Ghanaian voters have shown that a candidate is more likely to win the general elections at their second attempt, and changing the party's 2024 candidate would greatly reduce the NPP's chances in the 2028 general elections.

Thanking the delegates for their support, the former Vice President called for a contest of ideas and visions, pointing out that the Party will have to come together and prosecute the 2028 campaign together.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia began a three-day Constituency Executives Engagement in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday September 10.
